Facebook and Instagram Might Shut Down in Nigeria.

Hello World Featured Image

Yes, you read that right.

Apparently, FCCPC woke up and decided to throw hands with a $290 million slap aimed straight at Meta. Meta, being the drama queen it is, basically said, “Cool. We’ll just pack up our toys and leave.”

Now, I’m not here to unpack the full gist. You can check the news to get the full breakdown.

But here’s the part you should care about:

If you run ads, sell anything online, or have a personal brand this is not just gist it’s a gut punch.
You could lose:

  • All your followers
  • All your content
  • Every single data point stored in your precious Facebook pixel

Gone. Just like that. No warning. No closure. No refund.

This isn’t just scary it’s potentially business ending.

Now yes, we’re all hoping they sort it out (Nigeria loves dragging drama till the last minute), but here’s the real tea:

If your entire business lives on social media, you are one strike away from digital homelessness.

Because you don’t own your followers. Not on IG, not on Facebook, not even on WhatsApp. The algorithm does. The platform does.

And if they decide to disappear or ban you ( which happens more often than not) You’re done.

So, what do smart people do? They build email lists

You need to start building your email list—like yesterday.

Because emails? Those are yours. You can message your audience whenever, wherever, and no algorithm can shadow ban your content

Now don’t panic and start handing out random ebooks. Nobody cares about your 80-page manifesto.

Instead, give value. Tailored personalized value.

For instance, If I were in real estate, I’d make an e-book or a short video training on something like:
“5 things you must know before buying a house in Ibeju-Lekki.”

Simple, Valuable and Targeted.

So if you haven’t started building your list start now. Seriously. Don’t wait till Zuckerberg slams the door on your face.

And if you want content that actually teaches you how to run ads and future-proof your business?
